What projects are you currently working on?

I completed a children's book. It should be out very soon...hopefully by Spring 2007. I am currently writing a novel. I have just been so busy that I haven't had a lot of time to write lately, but keep looking out for me.

When is your next book coming out?

Good question. I'm not even sure. It's almost finished, but school comes first so I just don't have the time. Trust me though, it will be well worth the wait.

Do you ever attend poetry readings?

Every so often. It depends on my mood. I am so busy with school and other things that sometimes I am too tired. If you are looking for a good poetry set to go to though, you should attend Giovanni's (147th, Calumet City) on Tuesday nights. It starts at 9 and is hosted by KB and June-June. Also, once a month (I'm not sure of the exact date)there is a poetry set at Munchies on 35th and King Drive. Please try to get out to these events and show some support. They are open mics so if you feel a little bold, you can get on stage and do your thing!

Why don't you work in your field (biology)?

If I could, I would. If you know of any jobs or can give me any contacts, I would gladly appreciate it.

Why did you entitle your book Laugh Now, Cry Later...A window to my soul?

That's one of my favorite philosophies in life. It's a good way to look at things. People can laugh and make fun of you, but they will regret it later. Not because you will harm them, but because they will realize that they lost out on a good thing and also because what goes around comes around.

Does poetry have to rhyme?

No, a part of writing is that you are expressing your feelings and that is most important. Every other line does not necessarily have to rhyme. It's all about what you feel inside.

Why do you write?

I write to express myself. I write to share my story. I write because it is just something that I like to do.

I write, how can I get published?

What schools did you attend?

I graduated from Franklin Fine Arts Center (225 W. Evergreen) in 1994. I then went to Whitney Young Magnet High School from 1994-1997. Because I was only 16 when I finished, I decided to stay in Chicago and attend the University of Illinois at Chicago. I went there from 1997-2001, majoring in Biology. My original plan was to become a doctor so I briefly attended Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School in 2001. In 2004, I decided to pursue my Master's. I completed my Master's in Molecular Biology in 2006 at Chicago State University. The rest is to be continued..........
