Rock-Ola 1434 Super Rocket

This model came out in 1952 and was Rock-Ola' s temporary reply to the new 100 select Seeburg mechanism. It played both sides of only 25 records, but with such pizazz!

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: This model is really stunning in person when properly restored! A true sleeper in jukebox collector circles, only those in the know have their own, personal box! Will it take the place of the 1015? No, I don't think so, but it is one of those boxes that you really have to see!

I bought this puppy from Durfee in 2002. It had a cracked pilaster, names carved on the cabinet, no back door, flattened/dented stainless trim, grease and muck on EVERTYHING and when I got it, it did in fact work...to some degree, but parts had to be found, bought and installed to make it work correctly. And it was on 45 and that was not going to cut it for me. I wanted it to play 78!

Meanwhile, very good friends of mine, Brenda and Jay (http://www.jukeboxqueen.com) who live in New York state, bought a Super Rocket while we were at the Chicago show in April of 2004. They restored their juke later that same year and then prodded me to do mine. After all else failed they promised to come to California to help me put mine back together! The rest is history and a whirlwind restoration began! Nothing went untouched.

You won't find many photos of this model restored to it's original luster. We know why! Take note: don't make this your first restoration project.! They have more parts that need sprucing/painting/graining/sealing/redoing than Carter has pills!

Notice that we chromed some parts that are normally painted grey hammertone. The result is outstanding. All-in-all, the restoration went very well and I have my friends to thank for their UNENDING help and OVERWELMING guidance! Not to mention their gifts to make this jukebox really complete!

This is one of those jukeboxes that is SO much better in person. The colors are really great and the mechansim a joy to watch. The B sides of the records are played with the tonearm underneath while the motor turns the record in the opposite direction!

Please do not post these photos anywhere without my permission.

Thanks., Brad
