ALL EYES ON ME
I'm Andreā Millon, and I should tell you a little bit about me.......let's see, I started writing stories when I was 6 years old. The stories were about Ancient Egypt and Pharaohs. I loved going off by myself getting lost in my stories. My parents didn't think it was so funny when I would carry these fantasies over into my studies at school. Teachers would get upset because when it was my turn to read in the reading circles, I would tell the story how I wanted it to be told. My classmates loved it. My parents didn't know how to deal with it, I would always mix reality with fantasy and then write it on a piece of paper. This was my escape.....talk about the concept of "Never land". Anyway, my mom always thought I was a weird one, but she said she admired how I would speak my mind, and at a young age "test" my Elders by challenging them or questioning everything that was told to me. If a Grown-Up told me "the sky was blue", I would say "maybe it is, maybe it isn't." I was nick-named the C-3PO of Smart Asses. I talked to much, and I thought I knew everything. My parents felt this type of energy I had should be used for medical science. So I was put in a medical magnet high school, King Drew in Watts California. I "followed" a doctor on rounds every week. My first rotation in the hospital, was the Morgue. Boy did I see some things in there. The second rotation I could remember was the Pulmonary Lab......you get the picture? I was doing rotations in different departments, to see which field of medicine I wanted to pursue
Well, when I got to Loyola Marymount University, I did one semester as a Biology Major, then dropped it to my minor. I majored in Political Science, in addition to a minor in African American Studies. I graduated in 2000. I haven't a clue if my parents are disappointed and to tell you the truth at the time I didn't care. No jobs for me, and when I did take a job it was as a receptionist/processor for a major bank. They sucked because they were paying me pennies, and the Bank knew how far I was driving to go to work, plus they expected me to wear Corporate Clothing....now, I'm not the smartest person in the world, but I do know, $9.75 an hr. is not going to get me a suit at Sacks 5th.....just ain't happening. By then, to keep my loans deferred, I enrolled in a MBA program at University of Phoenix (UOP). I decided to go into eCommerce. I love technology and how the Internet gave birth to eCommerce. The best creation humanity has ever invented. We all know it'll only get better. A whole world of technology, it's so brilliant they took a movie and dedicated it to the similarities of human interaction and technological interaction-"The Matrix".
