“Producer/director Lora Workman is dedicated to bringing the intimacy of cabaret to Cleveland audiences, and to showcasing area artists. So far, so good -- it's an entertaining and affordable evening.”

Linda Eisenstein, Cool Cleveland

“Charles Eversole (Music Director) led the three-piece combo, bantered with the performers and, on one occasion, sang along with a featured performer. Eversole is a talented performer who adds excitement and good cheer to his performances, both at Kennedy’s and at other venues.”

David Ritchey, West Side Leader

“One Little way to measure an urban community’s sophistication is in the vitality of its cabaret performances. So it’s heartening to note that producer Lora Workman is trying to resuscitate this lovely art form here…”

Christine Howey, Scene Magazine 11/16/05

Monica OlejkoMonica Olejko

In April of 1961, during her final First Holy Communion rehearsal at St. Stanislaus in Lorain, Ohio, little Monica Olejko got the hiccups. All her classmates laughed. That afternoon on the playground a miracle happened. She was the first one chosen for Red Rover. Being a bright, albeit short child, little Mo realized her sudden popularity was because she made her classmates laugh. She was hooked.

This power to make people shoot milk out their noses and pee a little was heady stuff for the daughter of a Polish steel worker. Over the next four decades, she became an actor and her dad went on to become the Mayor of Lorain. Both noble professions.

She sang and danced her way through Ohio, won some awards and went on to "strut her stuff" at the Malemute Saloon in Fairbanks, Alaska. She also performed at the Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe, Africa. A bit of a control freak, she found directing and choreographing the way to be part of the artistic world, make some money and still make people laugh, but without having to put on makeup. She also teaches dance and does voice-over work.

Mo performed her first cabaret last year here at Playhouse Square and was invited back again to make you laugh. God loves it when you laugh. The sisters at St. Stan's taught her that. So laugh at her or with her, it doesn't matter which, but for the love of God…laugh.

Performance Dates: Wednesday, June 25th
