The contemporary junk food and fast food diet is based upon denatured, highly refined, processed, genetically altered and synthetically chemicalized non-foods. This modern stuff looks like food, tastes like food, smells like food, but amounts to chemical waste and/or synthetic dirt. In fact, there is no commercial food that is safe to eat. The chemicals that compose commercial foods interfere with the body's ability to function use enzymes, amino acids, minerals, fats and vitamins. Synthetic chemicals age and deteriorate the health. Synthetic chemicalshave slow and delayed effects that do not appear for weeks or months after they are consumed. When the effects of the chemicals appear, they are oftern misdiagnosed as flu, infection, V.D., hearth attack, AIDS, allergies, headaches, tension, stress, depression, fatigue, tingling toes or fingers, constipation etc. Visit our Nutrition Page for the complete article .

It
is important to be able to coordinate and control the sequence of body
movements in order to produce and direct the maximum amount of force
into the ground and your target. The body can be described as a series
of rigid segments linked together by moveable joints. Power for the
limbs must originate from the center of the body, moving down the hips,
legs, and feet into the ground. At the same time this same force moves
up the spine to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand and finally into
its intended target. Founder and President of the United Martial Science Federation, Chief Master Marlin Sims submitted an article on how to develop punching power. Visit our Sims' Corner page for a small excerpt from this article. Please check back often for additional training tips from the world renowned Chief Master Marlin Sims. Sims writes in every edition of Art of the Warrior.

Visit Our Physical Training page! On this page Craig Snyder, PT, MPT, ACT, covers three serious medical conditions: shock, concussions, and spinal cord injuries. In the martial arts, serious injury is possible and the first care that is given can oftentimes be the most important care that is given. Quick thinking and proper care can be the difference between a full recovery and serious permanent injury.
This article does not substitute as professional medical advice or training. Please consult a medical professional for any concerns regarding your health or an injury.Martial art training involves multi-joint, multi-planar movements. Research suggests that many injuries occur during eccentric deceleration in the frontal and transverse planes as a result of the inability to control postural alignment. Poor martial art training and exercise, in addition to other factors, lead to these muscle imbalances. The imbalances explain many injuries that occur during training, outside of trauma-induced ones. By implementing the five correction steps, these problems can be minimized, if not eliminated, resulting in students displaying optimal amounts of stability, strength, power and range of movement with ease during martial art training and performance. Martial artist, Clinical Massage Therapist and author, Michael Robinson provides us with insight on 4 Keys to Muscle Imbalance Correction.
