About CMS

Objectives

  • To educate and train students to become professional managers.

  • To conduct training programs for management teachers as a part of faculty development program.

  • To undertake research in different socio-economic areas.

  • To provide consultancy to industry.

  • To do all such activities, which will help to promote creativity and innovative skills of students.

  • To collaborate with other B-schools and other profe-ssional bodies to provide quality management education.


Located in a serene atmosphere at Nijigarh Kurki near Harirajpur, 18 Kms away from the din and bustle of the city Bhubaneswar and 10 kms from the Railway Station and Airport, Bhubaneswar. The infrastructure of Centre for Management Studies is spread over 5 acres of land. The institute is housed in a 16,000 sq. ft. area, a two storied building equipped with required facilities for education and training. CMS is a life member of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), and Orissa Management Colleges Association (OMCA).

Industry-Institute Interface
 

Industry professionals from leading organizations and academicians of reputed B-schools are regularly interfaced with the students and faculty of CMS. The Centre takes up activities like organizing seminars, symposia and workshops to foster strong industry-institute relationship for the benefit of the students.
 

Consultancy Services
 

CMS Consulting Group is a division of the Centre that focuses on giving consultancy to various corporate, NGOs and SMEs. The CMS Consulting Group intends to be a leader in the field of Business and Management consultancy and extends its scope in the socio-economic areas. The core team of consultants associated with these initiatives has done extensive work in the market research, financial institutions, social sector and other areas.

 

Past activities in Brief...

Industry-Academics Interface was organized on the 3rd Foundation Day (1st October 2004) in association with Indian Society for HRD (East Zone) involving students, faculty members and industry professionals from PPL and GRIDCO.

Several Seminars were organized for students wherein eminent guest speakers from Reliance Infocom, Bhushan Steels Limited, PPL etc. addressed the students.

Interface with Prof. Sashi Mishra, IIM Ahmedabad on Career Prospects for MBAs.

Exposure trip to Bangalore was organized to give the students an insight into the working culture of some leading organizations like e-Cosmos, Wipro Technologies, Shoppers Stop, Food World, Madura Garments, Cityman Clothings, 3M Birla, etc.

A group of seven members including 6 students and Mr. Hardaman Singh, Program Officer participated in India Brand Symposium organized by Vellore Institute of Technology on 15 September 2004. The team won the First prize in Creativity work. Later they visited NOVAR India at Chennai on an industrial visit, which gave them a first hand glance at the production facility.

MDP (Management Development Program) for the corporate sector was organized at Bhubaneswar on Building Trust and Managing Emotions at work place. Participants were drawn from organizations like PPL, PPT, L&T, OSCB, GRIDCO and RGVN.

CMS has completed one year European Union (EU) funded project on capacity building for small and medium scale enterprises and facilitation of business development collaboration between EU- India (Jan2005 - April 2006)
